How do you choose educational software for you children?

First you need to evaluate exactly what your educational needs for your children are to be. If you are a home school then your needs will be much more different than if your child is in a public or private school and you just want to supplement his/her education. There is Children's Software that will teach full courses from High School level down to

Kindergarten, or you can buy software that is tailored for a specific learning weakness that your child has.

Some things to keep in mind.

Ø      How easy is it to install? It just might be children's software but it will still have to be installed. Do you have the skills to do that?

Ø      Will this software hold your child's interest? If so how long?

Ø      What is the skill or age level?

Ø      Does the software require a parent's intervention, guidance or supervision?

Ø      Can your child use the software independently or alone?

Ø      Will the software actually teach your child what you intended it to?

Ø       How much Support does the manufacturer give?

Ø      Does the Gender matter with the Software? Will it keep a girl's or boy's interest?

Ø      Are there different levels to the software? As your child progresses can you set the difficulty to match?
